Police are investigating the circumstances that led to a soldier’s death at the base in La Romaine. The soldier, identified as Cpl Claude Blake died last night after he was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.

Investigators are trying to figure out if Blake sustained an accidental gunshot injury to the head or if it was it self-inflicted. According to reports, the Corporal was found around 3.00 p.m. after a single gunshot was heard at the base.

Upon checking the source of the sound they found him lying on the floor with a pistol next to him.
