Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Two have confirmed that they are investigating the murders of two men and the wounding of three others, including a minor, during a shooting incident which occurred this morning in the Malick district.
According to the TTPS, reports indicate that around 8:10 am, on Wednesday 25th September 2024, one of the deceased, identified as Gerald Caliste, was standing outside a school at Johnny Basement, Upper 7th Avenue, Malick, when a vehicle approached and two armed men exited.
The assailants allegedly shot at Caliste who fell to the ground and died at the scene, while other persons who were standing nearby ran for safety. Four persons, including a 4-year-old boy, were injured in the incident.
A second man, identified as Kemo Caliste, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The North-Eastern Division Victim and Witness Support Unit was contacted and will provide the necessary support to the families of the victims and teachers, parents and children of the school, in the aftermath of the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
