Police seize Firearm, Ammunition, and Drugs in North Central and Western Divisions

A roving roadblock exercise that was conducted in the North Central Division and an anti-crime exercise in the Western Division led to the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, and drugs.

The exercise was conducted over the weekend on Saturday, December 10, between the hours of 5 pm and 3 am on December 11th, 2022.

According to a statement from the TTPS, officers of the Western Division Task Force executed a search warrant at a home located on Dillon Street, Diego Martin. Officers allegedly discovered a brown-coloured handle bag containing six plastic-wrapped packages containing 3,207 grammes of marijuana as well as four rounds of .40 calibre ammunition in the ceiling of a bedroom.

“Around 9:30 pm officers of the North Central Division Task Force –Area East, while proceeding north along Lopinot Road, observed a man with a black bag in his hand walking along the roadway. The man, upon seeing the officers, allegedly dropped the bag and ran into a bushy area nearby and escaped.

Officers retrieved the bag and allegedly discovered a firearm and three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition in it.

Enquiries into both incidents are ongoing.
