Police Seize Over $300K in Marijuana

Central Division officers yesterday, March 19, seized a large quantity of marijuana and a firearm during an exercise conducted in the division yesterday.

According to the TTPS, between 3 pm and 6 pm on 18th March 2024, officers of Freeport CID and Freeport Warrants section, conducted an intelligence-led exercise in the district.

The information led them to a vacant lot along Orange Field Road, Carapichaima, where they conducted a search of the area.

During the search, the officers found 50 marijuana trees, with an estimated street value of $300,000, together with a black plastic bag containing one black firearm, fitted with a magazine, containing five rounds of ammunition.

The items were seized and conveyed to the Couva Police Station. This exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Simon, Supt. Gyan, Supt. Baird, Asp. Ablacksingh, Insp. Sylvan, Insp. Estrada and supervised by Sgt. Mohammed and Sgt. Harriot.
