A 39-year-old man is in hospital after he was shot by police officers who were conducting an exercise in the Carenage area. The suspect is in hospital. According to the TTPS, officers fired on the man after they observed that he had a Mac 11 submachine gun outfitted with red laser light. They called on the gunman to stop but he instead ran along a flight of stairs and allegedly pointed the firearm in their direction. The officers, in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, opened fire in the direction of the suspect.
