Sgt Dale Ramroop is now in police custody after he allegedly shot his common-law wife WPC Nicolette Persad during an argument at their home on Tuesday night.

Persad who was shot in her chest is reported to be in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.

The shooting occurred around  10:30 PM when 48-year-old Ramroop and 29-year-old Persad were at their home at Mo­hess Road, Bar­rack­pore when, shortly after they returned from attending a Carnival fete, they started arguing.

Police reports suggest that three rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion were discharged from Ramroop’s service revolver.

Cops seized two revolvers from the scene and several rounds of ammunition.
