POS Family Court Closed Until Further Notice Over Suspected COVID-19 Case

By Newsroom

Official Statement from the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago:

The Judiciary wishes to inform that the operations of the Family Court- Port of Spain have been adjusted until further notice.

Please be advised that no one will be allowed into the Court building until sanitisation has been completed. Vacating this building has become necessary as a precautionary measure given that an officer’s Covid-19 status is being examined.

While no one has been confirmed as Covid-19 positive, the usual precautions for this level of exposure have called for the current course of action.

The sanitisation of the facility will be conducted as required and there shall be no in person hearings or activities. Attention is also drawn to the Judiciary’s Practice Direction No.5 of August 17, 2020, which has dealt with the general discontinuation of in-person hearings except in limited circumstances.

Members of the public will be kept apprised of developments and are kindly reminded that services such as CourtPay, the Domestic Violence Hotline and e-filing are
available.
