President Weekes Sets The Record Straight: “I Have Only Taken Two Covid-19 Shots”

By Newsroom

President Paula-Mae Weekes has denied receiving any vaccination shot at Kings County Hospital in New York, putting to rest a “firestorm” which erupted due to a tweet by the institution which suggested otherwise.

The confusion about the President’s vaccination originated when the Kings County Hospital posted the following to its social media account on Tuesday:

President Weekes, at an emergency press conference after landing at the Piarco International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, put on record that she has only received two Covid-19 doses here in Trinidad and Tobago.

“I have had no other vaccine, booster or otherwise, nor has any other vaccine been suggested to me to take” Weekes said.

She further explained that she received PCR testing at the hospital on Monday.

“The hospital was very kind to accommodate me and two other members of the Office of President staff who travelled with me to have our PCR test done, so that we could comply with the rules and regulations of re-entry into the country.

President Weeekes received her first AstraZeneca Covid-19 shot at the Diego Martin Health Facilitiy on April 6th followed up by her second dose on June 7th at the Paddock of the Queen’s Park Savannah.

The Kings County Hospital has also corrected its error, posting the following:

“On August 24th we in error stated that the President of Trinidad & Tobago, Paula-Mae Weekes received a #COVID19 vaccine. She in fact received a COVID-19 test where our hospital leadership team greeted President Weekes & company. We were honored to have her visit @KingsCountyHosp”
