Prime Minister Calls for Greater Collaboration with Canada on Regional Security

By Newsroom

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley used his time on the podium at the Canada-CARICOM Summit to further advocate for international help in the fight against illegal weapons being trafficked into the region.

Dr Rowley said cooperation with Canada was needed with respect to securing small craft to patrol the borders of CARICOM nations.

“The Prime Minister also identified police training, particularly in combatting cybercrime, as another area that could benefit from increased partnership with Canada,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office read.

The three-day summit will come to a close today.

It follows an engagement between CARICOM Heads of Government and the Canadian Prime Minister during the 44th Regular Meeting of the Conference held in The Bahamas in February.
