PSA assets frozen

By Shirvan Williams

The assets of the Public Services Association have been frozen and a planned General Council meeting carded for this morning has been cancelled.

The decision to do so was made by High Court Judge Frank Seepersad during an emergency sitting which was held last night, December 14. The judgement was handed down against the union after five of its members took the association to court.

They alleged that the executive continuously failed to comply with its constitution and also failed to hold elections for nine years.

The ex-parte injunction will remain in effect until Monday, December 19 at 10 am, following which a hearing will take place.

Justice Seepersad also restrained the executive from carrying out transactions at bank accounts it holds at nine financial institutions.
