Repairs on the collapsed roadway at the HDC Oasis Greens Housing Development in Chaguanas will take until the end of March to be completed.

This is because, according to Housing Minister Pennelope Beckles, the works are “a lot more complicated” than expected, requiring some engineering studies to ensure the problem is properly rectified and unlikely to happen again

Minister Beckles says so far, there has already been excavation of the roadway, removal and replacement of damaged sewer lines and backfilling, to prepare the site for new paving.

She addressed the matter during Tuesday’s sitting of the Senate. 

Asked by Opposition Senator Wade Mark whether the works will be completed within budget, Minister Beckles said she was unable to say until the job was finished.
