SATT: Mask Wearing Optional At Supermarkets Once Government Mandate Lifted

By Newsroom

The Supermarket Association says its members have agreed that mask wearing will be optional at their establishments once government’s mask mandate is lifted this Sunday.

It comes after government explained that while the policy will be lifted from July 17th, individual businesses could still uphold a mandate for their stores.

The  Supermarket Association says sanitization stations will remain, however, with customers encouraged to also practice personal responsibility to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

“It is strongly recommended however to wear a mask for your own protection as the case may be during peak shopping times. Staff who are also positioned on a continuous basis in offices and public spaces are also strongly urged to mask as necessary for their own protection. SATT welcomes the lifting of masks as we take one more step towards the resumption of the new normal while ensuring that checks are put in place for health and safety procedures,
the Association said.
