One man is in police custody after turning himself in at the Chaguanas Police Station, in connection with the killing of a school teacher whose body was found in Central Trinidad this morning.

The woman, 48 year old Suzette Sylvester, was discovered inside her home at Mowlah Road Extension in Preysal, shortly before 6am.

Her body bore severe marks of violence.

According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, it was reported that the victim, a Secondary School Literature teacher, reportedly had an argument with a male relative at her home between the hours of 10.30 pm and midnight on January 3rd.

Relatives also reported seeing a male flee from the home prior to Sylvester’s body being found.

Since news of the teacher’s killing, several condolences began pouring out online, including from her former students.

“I would always love and appreciate you miss Sylvester. Really hard to process this trying not to cry on work,” one past student shared.

“R.I.P best English teacher ever and overall a wonderful person,” another said.
