SEA Date To Be Announced This Coming Week

By Newsroom

Standard five pupils and their parents should know before the end of next week, the date for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examinations.

“There’s a view that the exam should take place in October, there are other vies that the exam should take place earlier. We’re going to make a decision on that this week and as soon as that decision is made and accepted by the Cabinet it will be made available hopefully before the end of the week,” Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced during a press briefing at the Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann’s on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said consultation with the relevant stakeholders, including parents, churches, bodies and the union were ongoing, however he hoped a firm decision will be made before next Friday.

Meanwhile, responding to concerns about the CAPE and CSEC examinations, which are set to begin on July 13th, Dr. Rowley once more explained that the exams are managed by a regional body, the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) and therefore Trinidad and Tobago could not simple adjust the dates because of  dissenting voices.
