SEA Students Face Adjusted Framework Beginning 2021: Here’s What You Need To Know

The Ministry of Education has unveiled a series of adjustments to the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examinations, which will come into effect in 2021. 

The first major change is the timeline- the exam will be pushed back to June, with the date announced by the Ministry being Thursday June 10, 2021.

The exam will be administered in the subject areas of English Language Arts Writing, Mathematics and English Language Arts.

There have been changes to the number of items in the Mathematics and English Language Arts Papers. However, the time for administration remains at 75 minutes. 

The adjustments to the written papers are as follows: 

Mathematics – The number of items has been reduced from 45 to 40. 

English Language Arts – The number of items has been reduced from 43 to 36. 

English Language Arts Writing – Narrative Writing will be assessed for 2021 ONLY. 

There has been a reduction in the number of objectives being assessed for the Mathematics Paper.

The Office of the Chief Education Officer has disseminated this information to all primary school principals and teachers to facilitate the preparation of students for the placement examination.
