Search Ends In Tragedy As Body Of Missing UWI Employee Is Found

The search for missing UWI employee Merissa Edwards ended in tragedy on Monday as the woman’s body was found in a drain in Couva.

The discovery came two days after her  boyfriend,Simeon Roopchand, was found hanging from a tree on Saturday in a forested area in Tabaquite.

Edwards was last seen alive on September 18th, when she left her Freeport home with her Roopchand.

The Hunters Search and Rescue team, in a statement on Monday evening, said: “Hunters Search and Rescue Team led by Captain Vallence Rambharat and family members of Merissa Edwards located her body at 5.45pm. We are distraught and heartbroken. Andrea Bharatt, Ashanti Riley, Keithisha Cudjoe and many others have just flooded our thoughts.”
