Self Quarantine Advised In The Face Of An Unconfirmed COVID-19 Case In Tobago

By Newsroom

Even though it could not confirm that a security guard died as a result of COVID-19, in Tobago, staff who may have been in contact with the person have been advised by the Acting County Medical Officer of Health  in the sister isle “to self-quarantine and await  contact from Public Health officials  because an autopsy is pending.”

“To date, there is no confirmation that the security officer died as a result of COVID-19. Both the Authority and the Tobago Division of Health Wellness and Family Development (DHWFD) did not receive any prior reports of the security officer feeling unwell sort displaying flue like symptoms while on the property,” the DHWFD said in a statement on Monday morning.  This follows concerns raised by Minority Leader of the Tobago House of Assembly, Watson Duke. The Division said  because the guard was not suspected of having COVID-19, she was not swabbed and awaiting results, contrary to social media reports that had gone viral in Tobago.
