Seven arrested during police exercises

The TTPS arrested seven people in different exercises with two people being arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. Five others were arrested for larceny trick and robbery yesterday September 1 as well.

Two persons were arrested for being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, while in the North-Eastern Division (NED), five suspects were arrested in connection with reports of larceny trick and robbery yesterday.

In the first incident, officers of the Southern Division Task Force conducted an anti-crime exercise around 5:15 pm yesterday in the Claxton Bay district, during which they executed a search warrant at the home of a 36-year-old suspect. The search resulted in officers finding one pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect who was at the house at the time of the search was arrested in connection with the find. And, in an exercise conducted by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Thursday 1st September, 2022, a 27-year-old man of Duncan Street was arrested after he was found in possession of a Smith and Wesson revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition

Meanwhile, a female victim reported to police that she paid a quantity of cash to a man whom she knows, after he promised to provide her training for employment at a company in which he
claimed to be employed. The man failed to keep the arrangement and attempts to recover the money proved futile.

An exercise conducted by officers of the Morvant Criminal Investigations Department between 1:45 pm and 2:40 pm, on Thursday 1st September, 2022, in the Barataria district, resulted in
the arrest of the 31-year-old suspect of Indian Trail, Couva. In a separate incident, officers of the NED Task Force and the NED Intelligence Unit, responded to a report of robbery in the Barataria district around 10 pm yesterday.

The officers proceeded to Fourth Street, Barataria, where they observed four men. A search was conducted and the men were found to have three fake firearms in their possession. A quantity of cash and a cellular phone belonging to the victim was also recovered.

The suspects, three 19-year-olds and a 21-year-old all of Morvant, were arrested in connection with the finds. Investigations are ongoing into all the matters.
