Seven Firearms Seized During Operation Blue Line

The TTPS has seized seven firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics during ongoing Operation Blue Line exercises. The exercises were conducted across the country between Monday 24th July 2023 and Tuesday 25th July 2023.

On Monday 24th July 2023, the following arrests and seizures were made:

– In the Tobago Division, officers of the Joint Intelligence Patrol Unit, along of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, arrested a 30-year-old male suspect of Plymouth Road, for possession
of a firearm.

– In the South Western Division (SWD), Task Force officers along with personnel of the Gang Unit, Penal Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Penal Chargeroom, arrested one Penal man for possession of a Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition. Quantities of marijuana and cocaine were also seized from the home of the suspect.

– Also in the SWD, a 36-year-old male suspect of Penal, was held with a quantity of cocaine.
– In the Point Fortin district, CID officers acting on information, proceeded to Chin Kit beach, where they conducted a search of a bushy area along the shoreline, where 13 rounds of ammunition were found in a bag.

– In the North Eastern Division, Task Force officers seized one pistol, a magazine and 12 rounds of ammunition. A quantity of camouflage clothing was also seized from an abandoned concrete structure.

On Tuesday 25th July, 2023, the following seizures and arrests were made:
– Central Division Task Force officers arrested five male suspects and seized one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition in the vicinity of the Chase Village flyover.

– In the Morvant district, five suspects were arrested for various offences including Common Assault, Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and Robbery. One pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition was found hidden under a sheet of galvanise. Officers also seized a quantity of marijuana during the exercise.

– North Eastern Division Task Force officers seized on semi-automatic pistol loaded with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition from the Morvant district. A quantity of camouflage clothing was also seized.

– In the Southern Division, two men, ages 26 and 24 of San Fernando were held for possession of a quantity of ammunition.

– In the Northern Division, Task Force and La Horquetta police station officers acting on information, proceeded to a bushy area in La Horquetta, where they found one Smith and Wesson revolver loaded with two rounds of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
