Several Staffers At President’s House Test COVID-19 Positive

By Newsroom

The President’s House is currently functioning with a skeleton of its staff, after several employees tested positive for the COVID-19.

A statement from the Office of the President on Friday morning said 40 employees had been tested after the aide-de-camp to President Paula-Mae Weekes tested positive last weekend

It did not provide the exact number of workers testing positive.

OTP said a review of the conduct of the recent events held at the President’s House was carried out and the OTP said it is satisfied that all pandemic protocols — face masks, sanitising, social distancing —were strictly observed. It said risk to external individuals is “negligible”.

The employees and the President, who tested negative for the virus, are said to be in good spirits

All public engagements have been cancelled at President’s House until further notice.
