Sexual Assault of a Minor During a COVID-19 Party in Tobago

A 12-year-old girl, who went to a  COVID-19 house party in Tobago on Sunday was subsequently assaulted after she was given alcohol to drink.

As a result of 28-year-old Hullon John (in photo) of Culloden Bay Road, Golden Lane was charged and is due to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate with one count of sexual penetration of a minor and one count of child endangerment.

John who is a straightener,  by profession, was charged on Tuesday by officers of the Tobago Division’s Child Protection Unit (CPU).

“Officers of the CPU said they were on mobile patrol around 11:00 pm, on Sunday when they received information from the Tobago Operations Centre relative to a child found in someone’s property. Upon arriving at the location, the officers met a 12-year- old female victim,” the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said in a news release.

“Investigations revealed she had been invited to a COVID-19 house party with several other persons. “During the party, the victim was offered alcohol which she drank and then sexually assaulted by the host of the party. She was then dropped off at Store Bay Branch Road, Store Bay, where she was found by a resident,” the TTPS said.

“Officers immediately carried out a search for the suspect and subsequently had cause to stop a motor vehicle proceeding along Store Bay Local Road, with three occupants. Two of the occupants were released while the third occupant, John, was arrested in connection with the incident,” the TTPS explained.
