Forty-three year old Kareen Ramlal, who went missing a week ago, was found dead on Sunday afternoon in the Penal Area.

The woman’s decomposing body was wrapped in tarpaulin, and was discovered in a bushy area off Penal Rock Road.

Investigators made an identification easily, given the victim’s ID card and other personal effects were found at the scene.

Ramlal was released from prison last December, having been convicted of murdering her husband, Anil Jadoo, back in 2006.

During her trial, she told the court she had been abused by Jadoo for years. 

Ramlal pleaded guilty along with two other people who helped her commit the crime. 

Given the length of time she spent in remand before conviction, her actual sentence was one year and two months’ hard labour.
