Shotgun Seized During SOE Exercise

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) conducted a coordinated anti-crime exercise, dubbed “Operation Chopper,” between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in the Point Fortin and Guapo districts.

Acting under the authority of Legal Notice No. 40 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026, officers carried out a series of targeted searches at multiple locations across the districts, focusing on identified persons of interest. The operation resulted in the seizure of one shotgun along with seven 12-gauge cartridges, and the discovery of two rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with possession of the firearm and accompanying ammunition, while another individual was dealt with for possession of ammunition.

The operation was spearheaded and supervised by Senior Superintendent Thompson, with coordination provided by Superintendent Jaggernauth, ASP Forbes, and ASP Corrie. Officers from the South Western Division Task Force (East and West), South Western Division Gang Unit, Point Fortin CID, Siparia CID, and the K9 Unit participated in the exercise.
