Six suspects were arrested and three firearms and quantities of ammunition, narcotics and contraband seized, during ongoing State of Emergency operations conducted in the Northern, Northern North, North Central and North Eastern Divisions yesterday.
In the North Central Division, Task Force officers of the Northern North Division, conducted an exercise between 5:30 pm and 9 pm, on Thursday 25th June, 2026, during which they proceeded to the Tunapuna home, of a male suspect. A search of the premises resulted in the discovery of 11 fully grown cannabis trees, 1.256 kilogrammes of cannabis and four pieces of camouflage clothing.
The suspect who was present at the time of the search was arrested in connection with the finds. And, acting on intelligence, the officers then proceeded to the Maloney district, where they conducted a search of a bushy area, which led to the discovery of one pistol loaded with a magazine, containing 12 rounds of ammunition. The exercise was coordinated by Supt. Mc Kenzie and ASP Balewa. Meanwhile, Task Force officers of the North Central Division, with the assistance of personnel of the Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) Operations Unit, the St. Joseph CID, Tunapuna CID, Arouca CID, Guard and Emergency Branch, and the Canine Unit, conducted an exercise between 6pm and 11pm, yesterday, during which four suspects were arrested. One El Dorado man was held after being found in possession of one Beretta pistol, loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, while a Macoya man was held for Cannabis possession. One Trincity man was held in connection with investigations into reports of Malicious Damage and Threats to Kill, while a Tunapuna man was arrested relative to House Breaking and Larceny offences.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Gift, Supt. Jaikaran and ASP Pierre.
In a separate exercise also conducted in the NCD, officers proceeded to the Arouca district, where they conducted a search of a warehouse at Garden Village. There, they found quantities of illegal cigarettes and alcohol. A 60-yead-old male suspect of Arouca, was arrested in connection with the find.
And, in the North Eastern Division, Task Force officers proceeded to the Morvant district between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm, yesterday, during which they conducted a search of an abandoned wooden structure.
The search resulted in the officers finding one AR-15 rifle loaded with a magazine containing 29 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. The exercise was spearheaded by W/Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Guy-Alleyne, Supt. Birch and ASP (Ag.) Callender, and included personnel of the Canine Branch.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
