Sixty-eight T&T Nationals Quarantined at a Remote Location

By Newsroom

Sixty-eight nationals who were stranded a duties ship have returned to Trinidad and were immediately quarantined.

The Ministry of Health says none have tested positive for COVID-19 but were quarantined because “of the presence of other persons on the cruise ship who tested positive for COVID-19.”

“All passengers from the cruise ship were transported to the Piarco International Airport on a specific flight with no other public passengers.

“They were immediately screened by public health officials and transported to the assigned quarantine facility, with the assistance of the Protective Services and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.  “All sixty-eight nationals will be held in quarantine, for a minimum of fourteen (14) days, and monitored closely by medical professionals, the Ministry of Health said in a statement released a short while ago.

The nationals are being quarantined at an isolated location, in a remote part of Trinidad and Tobago, and will be provided with the required amenities during this period.

All of the necessary infection control protocols (including the provision of Personal Protective Equipment to all relevant personnel and the strict sanitization of surfaces) are consistently and strictly being adhered to,” the Ministry added.
