By Newsroom

The Allen Chastanet led government in St. Lucia has imposed a three-week ban on alcohol sales across the island, in an effort to limit social interactions and slow the spread of Covid-19.

The ban comes into effect today, Wednesday, and was effected one day after St. Lucia reported 57 new cases of the virus.

All of the new cases are Saint Lucian nationals, taking the number of active cases on the island to 359.

The decision was made following recommendations from a National Emergency Management Advisory Committee (NEMAC)/Stakeholder’s meeting held on Tuesday.

The government told citizens further decisions to address the upsurge in COVID-19 will be communicated as the are made.
