St. Michael’s Home For Boys To Reopen “In A Matter of Months”, Says Minister

By Newsroom

The Former St Michael’s School for Boys will be opened in a matter of months, according to Youth Development Minister Foster Cummings, who visited the Diego Martin site on Tuesday.

The home had been closed for restorative works in 2018. Work officially began in March of this year.

Once reopened, it will house up to 80 boys between ages 12-18.

In August 2020, the Former St. Michael School for Boys was transferred to the purview of Ministry of Youth Development and National Service.

The School was first established in 1889 by the Church of England in Trinidad and Tobago as a residential industrial school for homeless boys.

Over the years, the School operated under the management of the Anglican Church.
