St. Vincent Adds Barbados To ‘High Risk’ Travel List

By Newsroom

Starting tomorrow, January 4th, persons traveling to St. Vincent and the Grenadines from Barbados will have to spend a mandatory 10 days in quarantine at a state approved hotel.

The measure was announced by St. Vincent’s National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) Saturday night as it added the island to its pandemic list of “high risk” countries.

Barbados had previously been listed at medium level risk.

The decision follows Barbados recording large clusters of Covid-19 cases over the past week, including 161 positive cases within the prison system and 45 others from a bus crawl.

In Barbados, a string of measures have been announced to mitigate any further spread of the virus, including an extension of the existing curfew to 9pm-5am until January 14th.

The only exemption from curfew will be businesses including gas stations, hotels and villas, and manufacturing accommodations, which will all be allowed to operate 24/7

Activities such as limes, bus crawls, excursions, karaoke and social gatherings are completely banned.

Churches, mosques and other places of worship are to revert to virtual services where possible with immediate effect.
