Stepdad To Appear In Court Today Charged With Four-Year-Old Amarah’s Murder

By Newsroom

Exactly one week since baby Amarah Lalitte was brutally murdered and beheaded at her home in Arouca, the four-year-old girl’s stepfather will appear in court today to answer to the crime.

Thirty-nine-year-old Inshan Constant was formally charged last Friday, after police received the go-ahead from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Constant had been in custody since the night of the crime, when he was arrested at the family’s home after the child’s mother filed a report of a domestic disturbance.

Amarah’s decapitated body was found in a bed of the home, while her head was found stuffed in a barrel. An autopsy later confirmed that her cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Meanwhile, the Five Rivers community will hold a candlelight vigil this evening to celebrate Amarah’s life.

The vigil will begin at 6:30pm at the Five Rivers Junction in Arouca, ending at Fifth Street, Five Rivers.

Attendees are asked to wear pink or purple in Amarah’s honour.
