Suspected jewel thief held in PBR maxi

Officers of the North Eastern Division apprehended a suspect wanted for the larceny of a
quantity of jewellery, yesterday January 8. According to police reports:

“The victim, a 27-year-old businessman of San Juan, was conducting sales around 4:40pm, on Saturday 8th January, 2022, when a man pretending to be a customer entered. The man then pulled out a knife and announced a hold up.”

He then relieved the victim of a quantity of cash and a cellular phone before running out of the establishment. The businessman gave chase and was able to retrieve his phone from the suspect before the man escaped.

When the man returned to his business place, he discovered a number of valuable items missing. On viewing the security camera footage, the businessman observed another man enter the establishment and remove the items.

Officers of the North-Eastern Division Task Force responded and proceeded to the Priority Bus Route, where they intercepted a red-band maxi taxi in which the suspect was seated. The 29-year-old of Diego Martin was found with the stolen items in his possession.
