A female teacher and a male security guard at a private school located in East Trinidad were denied bail after appearing in court on sexual assault charges committed against minors.

The two, aged 46 and 35 respectively, were jointly charged with sexual penetration and trafficking of a minor for sexual exploitation, while the teacher faced additional charges including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The charges stem from a report of sexual abuse and trafficking of two, 12-year-old female students, made directly to the Special Victims Department of the TTPS by the Principal of the learning institution back in November.

A statement from police on Wednesday said both minors were sexually penetrated on the school compound by the teacher and again assaulted sexually by both accused at a location in Malabar between September 1st and November 3rd, 2022.

The two will reappear in court on January 16th, 2023.
