Teen Granted Bail After Pleading Guilty to Possession of an AR-15 an Ammo

A 17-year-old boy, who was charged on May 16th with Possession of an AR-15, Possession of a pistol drum magazine and Possession of 55 rounds of nine millimetre and 21 rounds of 5.56 ammunition has pleaded guilty to the charges.

The boy, who was arrested by PC Dabreo of the Eastern Division Gang and Intelligence Unit (EDGIU) appeared at the Children’s Court. He has been confined to his house under a 12-hour curfew.

According to the TTPS:

The teenager was ordered to remain at his North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande home from 6 pm to 6 am daily as part of his bail conditions which were granted at $65,000 with a surety.

The accused would remain on the curfew until his next court appearance on June 21st, 2023 where he will be sentenced following his probationer’s report.

According to a May 13th police report, EDGIU and Eastern Division Task Force police officers executed a raid at the suspect’s North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande home, in search of illegal firearms and ammunition.

During the operation, police officers allegedly found and seized the firearm and ammunition in the accused bedroom. The juvenile was subsequently taken to the Booking Centre at the Maracas/St. Joseph Police Station where he assisted EDGIU police officers with the investigation.
