THA launches investigation into alleged racist comment by contractor

THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has announced that an investigation has been launched into the alleged racist comments made by John Chedee when questioned by a reporter about a contract obtained in Tobago.

In a statement, Farley said that the information was brought to his attention via an article in the Trinidad Newsday which was published on October 28, 2022. So far, the Executive Council is advised that the matter may attract some legal action.

“Notwithstanding, Chief Secretary Augustine considers this allegation a serious moral and ethical infringement. The THA is prepared to go as far as terminating the contract once the alleged statement,” the statement further indicated.
