The Ministry of Works and Transport is working on extending the validity of some licenses

The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced that due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, it is currently collaborating with the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs to amend the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 48:50 to extend the validity of specific permits issued under the Licensing Authority.

According to the ministry: “This amendment provides that holders of drivers permits, taxi drivers license, badge, certificate or other document issued by the Licensing Authority which expire during the period 27th March, 2020 to 31st July, 2020 shall be deemed to be valid until 31st August, 2020, or such later date as the Minister of Works and Transport may specify.

The Ministry will continue to assess its various services on a daily basis to ensure that citizens are able to transact business in a safe environment and to mitigate against the inconvenience faced by citizens as a result of this global pandemic.”
