They’re Here! 305,370 Pfizer Covid-19 Vaccines Land At Piarco International Airport

Thursday morning’s shipment of 305,370 Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines arrived at the Piarco International Airport 17 minutes earlier than anticipated, at 7:58am.

It is the first batch of nearly 907,920 doses being donated by the United States government.

Children 12 years and over will be given first priority for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines, as they are unable to receive AstraZeneca or Sinopharm, in keeping with World Health Organization guidelines.

At a press conference in late July, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley urged persons not to refuse other vaccines in hopes of being administered Pfizer doses, saying the best vaccine is the one that is available to you.

“If we get our hands on a supply from the United States, the first call on those vaccines would be our high school age population and that will put us in good stead to present them at school in September,” the PM said at the press conference held at the Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann’s.

“If there are any of you out there waiting for the Pfizer (vaccine), as long as you are not in the secondary population, you will be waiting,” he added.
