Three held for brazen daylight jewellery store robbery in San-Fernando last Saturday

Police have held three men following a manhunt for the four suspects believed to be behind the fatal shooting incident on Saturday, February 5 along High Street, San Fernando. They were arrested, and a firearm and a number of narcotics were seized. The jewellery was also recovered.

In a statement the TTPS said:

“Acting on information received into a report of robbery on February 5th, 2022, Southern Division police officers mounted several exercises and searches which resulted in the arrest of three male suspects ages 23, 28 and 31, all of Kings Wharf, San Fernando. During the operation, police officers allegedly seized a firearm and 5.56 kilogrammes of marijuana, 304 grammes of cocaine and an assortment of jewellery.”

They also confirmed that the suspects are now in custody and are being interrogated by Homicide Bureau of Investigations detectives. During the robbery 33-year-old security guard, Andy Alberto Mercias, 33, was killed after he tried to run out of the store.
