Three men denied bail after alleged robbery spree

Three men were denied bail and remanded into custody after appearing before Port-of-
Spain Magistrate, Kerry-Ann Byer, yesterday, jointly charged with five counts of robbery with violence and one count of indecent assault.

The men have been identified as KESTER ‘SKIN IT’ LA FON, 38, RENALDO ‘NALDO’ JOSEPH, 18 and STEPHON ‘FUNCTION’ BHARATH, 18, all of Coalmine Road, Sangre
Grande.

According to police reports, the men allegedly conducted robberies between December 10th and 13th, in the Western Division. They were supposedly involved in two robberies just an hour apart. In the first instance, a man was relieved of his watch and a sum of money. In the second
matter, a sum of cash was stolen as well as a cell phone from another person.

On December 11th, further reports indicated that around 8:30 pm along the Morne Coco Road, Diego Martin, the trio allegedly relieved a woman of her handbag containing cash and her personal effects. The woman was also reportedly sexually assaulted by the accused.

The men also allegedly copped two handbags and a sum of money from a woman on December 13th, as well as a quantity of cash and a box containing a fried chicken sandwich from another person.

Investigations were conducted by WPCs Harry and Juman, PCs Seechan and Phipps of the Four Roads Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the men were apprehended on December 13th, and charges laid on December 20th.
