Top Cop: “We Will Be Flexible With Mask Law”

By Newsroom

Police Commissioner, Gary Griffith, says while his officers will enforce the recently passed mandatory mask wearing law, they will do so with a sense of humanity and understanding.

Speaking at the weekly TTPS media briefing, Mr. Griffith said beginning tomorrow (Thursday), officers will also begin distributing facial masks to homeless persons tomorrow, in an effort to ensure everyone is armed with the mask in accordance with new legislation.

On the issue of children eight years and older being required to wear a mask, Griffith says the TTPS will not be focused on ticketing children, but rather challenging their parents/guardians, who must pay any fines incurred, to ensure the youngsters are protected.

“In these very trying times, $1,000 could be a lot for a family so we are not here to prove a point,” the Commissioner said.
