Trinidad White-Fronted Capuchin and Trinidad Howler Monkey Designated As Environmentally Sensitive Species.

The Trinidad White-Fronted Capuchin and the Trinidad Howler Monkey have been designated as Environmentally Sensitive Species.

As such, anyone found in possession of the animals can face a $100,000 fine or two years’ imprisonment.

The Environmental Management Authority, EMA, says the designations came into effect on September 1st.

With the designation of these two monkeys, Trinidad and Tobago’s ESS now stands at thirteen  animals, designated under the ESS Rules, 2001.
