By Newsroom

Five Trinidad and Tobago nationals who were studying in India have been granted final letters of exemption to return home on Tuesday.

This was confirmed by the Ministry of National Security on Sunday.

The Ministry said it continues to work assiduously to process requests for exemptions from Trinidad and Tobago Nationals.

“Exemptions to enter the country continue to be granted in collaboration with public health experts, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by balancing the number of persons who are returning with available State quarantine facilities,” it said in a statement.

Presently there are five active cases of COVID-19 in the country; Trinidad and Tobago has recorded 137 confirmed cases to date.
