T&T To Sign Off On Regional Ferry Deal With Guyana, Barbados

By Newsroom

The Galleons Passage is being prepared for use as one of the vessels in a cargo ferry service between Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Barbados, which the Cabinet will sign off on today.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says the initiative has many benefits for the region including improved food security, job creation and more affordable prices for agricultural products.

“This is a decision which is driven by the need to move raw materials and fresh produce from the producing areas to the consumption and manufacturing areas within this sub-zone of Caricom (TT, Guyana, Barbados)” the Prime Minister said.

The Galleons Passage, which was commissioned in October 2018, is classified as a Catamaran RoRo passenger ferry, according to Lloyd’s Register Rules and Regulations for Classification of Special Service Craft.
