The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) has joined the search for three missing fishermen and their vessel. The Fishermen and Friends of the Sea (FFOS) first raised awareness about the missing men.

According to the FFOS the men are:

2. Cousin of Luis – no info. About 23 years. 5.6ft. Fair completion. Short black hair.

3. Ender Emil, the captain – 33 years about 6ft fair complexion, black hair, Trinidad resident and Venezuelan by birth. Last seen wearing short pants and white vest and white sweater.

The TTCG said that they received information about the missing men yesterday December, 28.

In a statement the TTCG added:

“The reporting source indicated that the vessel, a pirogue, departed Orange Valley with a crew of three (3) Venezuelan nationals on 27 December, 2021 and had not yet returned to its home port.

The TTCG received no additional information regarding the intended destination or other plans
for the vessel. Based on the limited information provided, the TTCG initiated a Search and
Rescue Operation which involved the deployment of its own surface assets.

Searches were conducted in the Gulf of Paria and checks were also made at various ports and harbours. The TTCG has also engaged partner agencies such as the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard to assist in the Search and Rescue Operation and wishes to assure the families of the missing individuals that the searches remain ongoing.”
