TTPS Conduct Overnight Anti-Crime Exercises Throughout the Country

Overnight anti-crime exercises by police officers across all ten policing divisions conducted several exercises have resulted in several arrests and crime prevention.

According to the TTPS:

In the North-Eastern Division officers of the Santa Cruz Criminal Investigation Department and Charge Room visited several known drug blocks in the San Juan district with a focus on Blackford Street, Providence, Money Avenue, Pipiol, Bourg Mulatresse, and Laventille Road.

During the exercise, several persons were interviewed providing officers with intelligent information leading to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in the 7th Avenue Malick area. Reports are that the vehicle was stolen yesterday in the Trincity Mall Car Park.

Officers of the San Juan and Morvant district during an operation targeted hotspot areas in the Upper 6th Avenue Malick, and Upper 7th Avenue Malick areas, such as Councilman Circular, Johnny Basement, Mango George, Coconut Drive, Vegas and Westmore, 2nd Caledonia, Chinapoo, Never Dirty, Mon Repos, Green Acres and Mt. Hope Road.

No one was arrested.

A Traffic Exercise was conducted during the hours 1:00 am to 5:00 am this morning at South Trunk Road La Romain in the vicinity of Paria Suite Hotel. Special emphasis was directed to Vehicular Traffic which was proceeding towards the South Western Division heading to Borough Day Celebration.

Several vehicles including Buses, Maxis and Taxis and the occupants of these vehicles were searched for illegal firearms and ammunition, weapons, and narcotics, however, nothing illegal was found. A total of 27 Stop and Search forms were completed.

Additionally, on Friday 5th April 2023, during the period 8:55 pm to 11:55 pm, officers attached to the Tobago division assisted by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, conducted anti-crime exercises in the Scarborough district. During the said exercise five drug blocks were
targeted, fourteen stop and search forms were prepared, 51. grams of marijuana were found and seized and one person was arrested.

Officers also conducted exercises in the Charlotteville and Roxborough districts between the hours of 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday 5th May 2023. During this exercise, six Fixed Penalty Notices were issued under the U-turn System, twenty street check forms were completed, three drug blocks were targeted and three priority offenders were targeted. A 57-year-old man of
Plymouth, Tobago was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

In the Eastern Division during a road traffic exercise, Five Fixed Penalty Notices were issued for the following violations:1 No seatbelt;1 Vehicle with unsecured load and 3 No ID at night.
A total of 27 Fixed Penalty Notices were issued for various offences, also fourteen stop and search forms were filled out. Two drug blocks were searched at Junction Road and Shops of Sangre Grande and persons were found to be in possession of the legal limit of marijuana.

Roving exercise, road check duty and Bar search exercise were carried out in the Rio Claro district between 8 pm and 12 midnight yesterday. Several bars and patrons were searched during which the legal quantum of marijuana was found, also periodic spot checks were made along the Tabaquite Road, Cunapo Southern Road and Naparima Mayaro Road and five tickets were issued.

Also between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm yesterday. Four homes were searched for Firearms. At each of the locations, a legal quantum of marijuana was found. Also, 250 cannabis nurseries and 10 cannabis trees were destroyed at St. John Road Brothers Road. No one was arrested.

In the Couva Police District, along the Southern Main Road, Couva, between Noel and Market Streets, and environs, between the hours of 1:15 pm- 3:25 pm in Couva, and a total of 20 street check forms were documented, five DUI tests were conducted however everyone was found
to be within the limit, and twelve fixed penalty notices were issued for various traffic violation. Several persons and vehicles were searched and nothing illegal was found or seized.

A roving and intelligence exercise was conducted in Area North of the Northern Division between the hours of 6 pm and 10 pm yesterday. A search warrant was executed at a home at Daisy Voison, Phase 2 La Horquetta for firearms and ammunition however nothing illegal was found.

One firearm was recovered, two persons were arrested and 15 street checks were completed in Northern Division between the hours of 12:00 am and 3:00 am this morning when officers conducted anti-crime exercises.
