By Shirvan Williams

The TTPS has made another significant marijuana bust. According to the TTPS, a Barataria man is assisting police in connection with a large drug find at the Scarborough Port yesterday, September.

According to the TTPS, officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force and the Canine Unit, conducted an exercise at the Port Authority Compound, during which time the officers conducted searches on several vehicles disembarking the APT James ferry.

When officers searched a silver Nissan Sylphy, driven by a 35-year-old electrician from the Barataria area, they observed a large speaker box system, which appeared to be emitting a strong odour. Further checks revealed several green plastic-wrapped packets packed into the speaker box.

The 60 similarly wrapped packets contained marijuana, which weighed 32 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $432,000. The driver was arrested and the marijuana was seized.

This exercise was directed by ACP Collis Hazel, coordinated by Snr. Supt. Michael Jackman and Supt. Rodhill Kirk. It was spearheaded by ASP Joseph and supervised by W/Cpl Ewing.
