TTPS Recovers Two Stolen Vehicles And Seize Narcotics in the Last 48 Hours

Police have seized a quantity of narcotics, and ammunition and recovered two stolen vehicles during exercises in various divisions over the past 48 hours.

According to the TTPS, officers of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF) and K9 Units conducted an exercise in the Freeport and Couva districts between 12:15 pm and 5:45 pm on 9th December 2023.

Acting on information, the officers proceeded to a location on Milton Road, Couva, in the vicinity of the bridge, where they found and seized 25 rounds of ammunition, wrapped in a piece of cloth. They then continued on to Ramgoolie Trace, Freeport, where they searched an unoccupied piece of land, approximately 40 meters from the roadway. The officers discovered eight clear plastic bags, each containing cannabis, totalling 436 grams. The items were seized and packaged for further processing.

Officers also recovered two stolen vehicles in unrelated incidents. Earlier today, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force were on mobile patrol along Kerr Road, Eastern Quarry, Laventille, when they observed a silver Subaru Forester parked along the roadway. After making checks the officers discovered the vehicle registration number did not match the vehicle.

After examining the chassis number of the vehicle, the information revealed that it had been stolen from Samba Dora Road, Maracas/St. Joseph on 20th November 2023. The vehicle was seized and wrecked at St. Joseph Police Station. PC Cupid of Maracas/ St. Joseph Police Station is continuing enquiries.

PC Schullere and PC Bishop were on mobile patrol on Sunday 10th December, at approximately 4:08pm, when the responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a location on Richplain Road, Diego Martin. The officers proceeded to the location where they observed a light green Nissan B14, which appeared to be scrapped. After making checks the officers found the vehicle was reported stolen from the Central Division on 4th December, 2023. 

The vehicle was taken to the West End Police Station and WPC Sergeant of Chaguanas CID is conducting further enquiries.
