Twelve Illegal Immigrants Detained, Taken To 14-Day Quarantine

Twelve Venezuelan migrants who entered the country illegally  were detained by South Western Division officers on Tuesday and were handed over to the Immigration Division at the Chaguaramas Heliport.
 
They were medically examined as a COVID-19 precaution and are being quarantined before being deported to their homeland.
 
Officers of the Santa Flora Police Station, South Western Divisional Task Force (SWDTF), Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) responded to a report by the Radar Centre of a vessel conveying illegal immigrants and approaching Beach Road, Palo Seco area on Tuesday.
 
Upon reaching the area, the lawmen intercepted a blue Cube vehicle in which they discovered ten illegal immigrants.
 
SWDTF officers were then alerted to a report of another vehicle transporting illegal immigrants. In this incident, the information led to the discovery of two additional illegal immigrants being transported along S.S Erin Road, Santa Flora.
 
The duo was also medically examined and taken to the Chaguaramas Heliport for processing.
 
SWDTF also responded to a report of narcotics in the Beach Road, Palo Seco, Santa Flora.
 
There, the officers searched a bushy area behind an abandoned house where they discovered a black plastic bag containing 117.5 grams of marijuana. Same was seized and destroyed. No one arrested in connection with this find.
 
Officers were then informed about more narcotics being stored in the abandoned structure at Sennon Village Extension, Siparia. Upon searching the structure, SWTDF officers also discovered another black plastic bag which contained 85.6 grams of marijuana.
