A 23-year-old man, MALEEK GILBERT, appeared before an Arima Magistrate last week, charged with the murder of Joel Caleb, which occurred on April 29th, 2023.

According to the TTPS:

Gilbert of Five Rivers, Arouca was charged with the offence when he appeared in the Arima First Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 8th May, 2023. The matter was adjourned to June 5th, 2023.

Caleb, 41, of Tumpuna Road, Arima, was found dead in the Heights of Guanapo, Arima, on April 29th, 2023. One male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter on May 1st, 2023. Investigations were supervised by ASP Victor, Insp. Ramjag, W/Insp. Sylvester and Sgt. Radhaykissoon, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.

Gilbert was charged with the offence by PC Ramdial, also of HBI Region Three, on May 5th, 2023, following advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on that same date.
