Two Appear In Court For New City Mall Robbery

Two men were due to appear in court on Friday, charged in connection with Saturday’s brazen daylight robbery at New City Mall in Port of Spain.

Denzil Walcott and Justin Cupid, of Duncan Street and Jackson Hill, East Dry River respectively, are charged with committing robbery with violence.

Two other suspects were arrested yesterday and are expected to be charged soon. Meanwhile, a fifth suspect who was shot by a responding officer, remains under guard at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Meanwhile, in a separate matter, Six men have been arrested and charged after being linked to a spate of robberies across the island.

Police say the men were additionally charged with vehicle theft and being members of a gang.

The cases include a robbery at Pine Ridge Heights, Arouca which took place in June. The victim was robbed of $100,000 cash by armed suspects and was shot and wounded.
