Two Arrested And Two Guns Seized In Overnight Exercises

The TTPS has disclosed that two people were arrested, as well as two firearms and quantities of ammunition were seized by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and North Eastern Division (NED), during sustained anti-crime
exercises conducted overnight.

According to a statement from the TTPS:

“In the latest exercise, officers of the IATF proceeded to Leotaud Street, Laventille, between 3 am and 4:30 am on Friday 6th January 2023, where they stopped and searched a 25-year-old male suspect. The search resulted in officers finding one Taurus pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition in his possession.”

The suspect was arrested in connection with the find.

In the second exercise, officers of the NED Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise between 6 pm on Thursday 5th January 2023 and 3 am on Friday 6th January 2023 in the Morvant, San Juan, Barataria and Santa Cruz districts.

During the exercise, officers stopped and searched a male suspect, which resulted in one Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition being found in his possession. The suspect was arrested in connection with the find.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Edwards, Supt. (Ag.) Ravenales and ASP Singh and included officers of the NED Task Force.

Investigations are ongoing.
