Two men facing multiple shooting offences appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate yesterday.
One man was remanded into custody and another was granted bail in the sum of $350,000. Twenty-eight-year-old Nicholas Reid of Cunupia and 20-year-old Nevash Maraj of Las Lomas are accused of shooting at a vehicle with passengers earlier this month.

“One man was remanded into custody and another granted bail in the sum of $350,000 when they appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate yesterday, charged with multiple shooting offences.

NICHOLAS REID, 28, of Cunupia, and NEVASH MARAJ, 20, of Las Lomas, were charged with two counts of shooting with intent each, possession of firearm, possession of ammunition, two counts of possession of firearm to endanger life each and two counts of possession of ammunition to endanger life each, when they appeared before Magistrate Charles, on Thursday 25th August, 2022.

Reid was remanded into custody, while Maraj was granted bail in the sum of $350,000. The matter was adjourned to September 22nd, 2022. Reports indicate that two victims were in their black Nissan Wingroad motor vehicle in the Chase Village district on August 22nd, 2022, when a silver Toyota Corolla wagon pulled up alongside them and a man armed with a gun exited. It is alleged the gunman pointed the firearm in the direction of the victims and discharged several rounds which hit the vehicle.

The victims then proceeded to the Freeport Police Station with the assailants pursuing them. On reaching the station, the victims pointed out the vehicle with the assailants to the officers, who gave chase along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.

The vehicle with the two suspects was intercepted a short distance away. A search resulted in one Smith and Wesson revolver and three spent shells being found in the vehicle. The two men were charged with the offences by PC Tull of the Central Division. In a separate incident, officers of the Western Division Task Force, conducted an anti-crime exercise in the Petit Valley district between 12 noon and 7 pm, on Thursday 25th August, 2022. During the exercise, the officers proceeded to Simeon Road, where they conducted a search in the vicinity of a house.

The search resulted in one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition, hidden under a concrete walkway. Investigations are ongoing.
